The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly - 6/22/21

The ongoing saga…

The Great – The celebration of Juneteenth will now be official and annual!

The Really Great – In a 7 -2 decision handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court, the ObamaCare challenge initiated by a number of Republican states was dismissed. The decision leaves the law totally intact and preserved access to health care coverage for millions of Americans. Kudos to the four Republican appointed justices who joined Justice Stephen Breyer who wrote for the affirmative – Justices Roberts, Thomas, Kavanaugh, and Coney

The Good – I was anxious about travel but my experience eased my fears. Everyone seemed well mannered. Perhaps the word had gotten out about the non-acceptance of jerks in confined places. At the same time, it was clear that the TSA has some new staff. I had a total body search (my first ever) due to something that showed up on my body – Whoa! My luggage and backpack were fine but my body was amiss 😊.  BTW, I passed after exhibiting the goods that I did not have on my body! It was simply flabby, old skin.

The Bad – Mask wearing is down. We should continue to be cautious. So keep the masks up in large crowds or where there is lots of vocal activity (Red Sox baseball games, church, concerts, etc.)

The Ugly – The threat of legal action against a gay couple in a neighborhood for displaying a gay pride flag on their mailbox! We are now 60 years past the 1960s!
