HHS Allow Provision of Telehealth Services Across State Lines –  DHHS issues an emergency change in allowable services on December 3rd that will allow health-care providers to submit payment for telehealth services across state lines during the COVID-19 emergency regardless of state and local prohibitions. Pandora’s box has been opened. The new policy overrides state laws that effectively ban or ban outright out-of-state services by licensed health care professionals. Balding Men At Higher Covid-19 Risk – Researchers in the United Kingdom who are involved with the UK Biobank project recently reported on a multi-variable logistic regression analysis of more than 500,000 individuals in the UK Biobank. The conducted the research aftBald Risker noting an observational report by Wambier et. al. suggesting that men with pattern baldness were at high risk for severe symptomatic COVID-19 infection. During the UK Biobank intake, 226,938 men chose from 1 of 4 options that best characterized their hair loss based on the images noted below from the Hamilton-Norwood scale or, Options 1 = no hair loss; Option 2 = slight hair loss; Option 3 = moderate hair loss; and, Option 4 = severe hair loss. They then identified a cohort of patients who tested positive for COVID-19 and compared that group for hair loss patterns. The results were that patients for a Covid positive result among the balding patterns were: 15.03% for Option 1; 16.83% for Option 2; 18.15% for Option 3; and, 20.05% for Option 4. With a large sample size, the results are fairly compelling. So, the essence is that balding men are at higher risk and the more baldness, the greater the risk. Perhaps it has something to do with those androgenic hormones…
