The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly - 1/11/22

The ongoing saga…

The Great – The humanity of Chuck Paterakis, one of the owners of H&S Bakery distributed baked goods from his truck to stranded motorists during the DC winter storm last week AND, of course, the evolving portfolio of literature in support of my coffee consumption patterns!!

The Good – The announcement as we go to press of a new vaccine – CORBEVAX –  developed by physicians at Baylor College of Medicine and manufactured in India. It’s 90% effective in preventing disease caused by the original COVID-19 virus strain, 80% against the delta variant; with tests pending against Omicron. And, the technology is far less expensive than the mRNA approach!!

The Bad – The rapidity of COVID-19 spread across the globe and the near real-time policy making by the nations of the world in response to the pandemic.

The Ugly – The expectation that epidemiologists and public health experts uniformly are skilled at public communications to convey the meaning of policy related to the pandemic.
